The Team

Dr Yasemin Ozdemir

Dentist  GDC Number 290254

Yasemin joined the team in 2019. She qualified as a dentist in 2005 and as a Paediatric Specialist with a PhD in 2012, at Ege University in Turkiye.  In her professional life, she has worked in children’s dentistry, in particular facial growth, both at Ege University and in her private clinic for more than 10 years. She has attended significant post-graduate education particularly, concepts of Wilma Simoes and Myobrace® and has provided Functional Jaw Therapies since 2012 for young patients aged between 4-10.

Yasemin understands the importance of proper function and correct myofunctional habits in order to promote the forward growth of facial bones. She strongly believes that early interventions for the signs of malocclusion may have a great impact on the child’s overall health.

History of the Clinic

There has been an orthodontic clinic in Purley for nearly 40 years. The clinic was initially set up by Dr Mike Mew’s father Professor John Mew when he relocated his London clinic out of central London, Wimpole Street. His son Dr Mike Mew took over the clinic in 2014. Since 2014 Dr Mew has been working to further develop both the clinic and the treatment therapy itself. He has established a teaching and research side to the clinic, The London School of Facial Orthotropics, more information about this can be found at www.lsfo.co.uk.
